Job summary

Lone Peak Dental Group seeks an Orthodontic Assistant to join our Tumwater team. You will prepare treatment rooms, assist the orthodontist, take X-rays, and ensure a friendly, kid-focused environment for our patients and families.

The ideal candidate has X-ray and CPR certification, plus at least 1 year of orthodontic exposure or completion of an accredited orthodontic assistant program. Training available for the right person.

Qualifications

• 1 year of orthodontic experience preferred; training provided for right candidate.
• X-ray and CPR certification required.
• Completion of accredited orthodontic assistant program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms for procedures.
• Assist orthodontists during appointments and procedures.
• Take and develop dental X-rays.
• Maintain orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Instruct patients on oral hygiene and care techniques.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with scheduling.
• Keep accurate patient records and documentation.
• Maintain a kid-friendly environment and smooth patient flow.

Requirements:

• X‑ray and CPR certification is required
• Minimum 1 year experience in an ortho practice is preferred, but we will train the right person!
• Completion of an accredited orthodontic assistant program preferred
• Additional certification or training is a plus
• Experience with Denticon software or iTero scanners is a plus.
• Full‑time role (30+ hours per week).

A Typical Day as an Orthodontic Assistant:

• Prepare treatment rooms for orthodontic procedures.
• Assist orthodontists during patient appointments and procedures.
• Take and develop dental X‑rays.
• Maintain orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Instruct patients on proper oral hygiene and care techniques.
• Schedule follow‑up appointments and assist with patient scheduling.
• Keep accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensuring smooth patient flow and maintaining a kid‑friendly environment.

Schedule:

• 8‑hour shifts
• Some Saturdays may be required
• Daytime hours – No nights!
