Job summary

Texas Orthopedics, a division of OrthoLoneStar, is seeking a Medical Administrative Coordinator to coordinate clinical care outside the clinic and provide concierge service while ensuring patient safety and quality expectations are met.

Coordinate timely communication with patients, providers, and third parties, manage scheduling for surgeries and imaging, and handle pre-authorizations as needed to keep care on track. Strong EMR documentation skills preferred.

Qualifications

  • Two years as a medical assistant with hospital, home health, or office experience; orthopedics preferred.
  • Two years of surgery scheduling preferred
  • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA) preferred
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Receive, document, and handle in-coming calls; schedule surgeries and related pre-ops.
  • Submit medical records and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
  • Consult with providers to ensure medical necessity before initiating insurance requests.
  • Monitor authorization process and update physician and patient as needed.
  • Document authorization numbers in EMR with dates and details.
  • Assist with patient education and medication requests.
