Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years as a medical assistant with hospital, home health, or office experience; preferably orthopedics related.
• Two years of surgery scheduling preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA) preferred.
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications; medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries, MRI's, CT scans, and other procedures, including pre-op and follow-up.
• Submit medical records and obtain necessary pre-authorization.
• Coordinate with providers to determine medical necessity before insurance submission.
• Document authorization numbers and dates in the EMR.
• Assist with patient education and timely responses to inquiries.
