Job summary

Highmark Health in Kentucky is seeking an Orthopedic Medical Assistant/Ortho Technician to support physicians and extenders across multiple orthopedic locations. You will perform wound care, dressings, EKGs, injections, casts, phlebotomy, and related procedures under supervision, and help with ultrasound preparation as needed.

Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, documenting in the EHR, updating allergy/medication history, and training as a scribe to maintain clinic workflow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Proof of graduation from an AHN approved Medical Assistant School within five years of hire or graduate from an accredited athletic training education program or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with wound care, dressings, EKGs, and injections.
• Assist in coordinating patient care under supervision.
• Prepare and room patients; document health information, history and medications.
• Document in the electronic health record; update allergy and medication lists.
• May function as a scribe; travel to satellite locations to support physicians.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure exam rooms are stocked.
• Administer medications with training when permitted.
