Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Orthopedic Technician/Medical Assistant to support physicians and extenders across orthopedic locations. After training, you will perform wound care, injections, EKGs, cast applications, and phlebotomy while assisting with ultrasound procedures as needed.

You will prepare patients and rooms, interview patients, and order radiographs, documenting in the electronic health record and updating health information.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
• CPR – American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and extenders with procedures and patient care.
• Prepare and room patients, interview, and order radiographs according to physician protocols.
• Document all pertinent details in the electronic health record and update patient history.
• Educate patients on wound care, pin care, cast care, and postoperative care.
• Travel to satellite locations to support assigned physician(s).
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure treatment areas are stocked.
