Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Orthopedic Support professional to assist physicians and extenders across multiple practice locations. The role involves wound care, injections, EKGs, suture removal, cast care, phlebotomy, and ultrasound assistance, with a focus on maintaining accurate patient records.

Required is either an AHN-approved Medical Assistant program or an accredited athletic training program, plus willingness to travel to satellite locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant program within five years of hire or graduate from an accredited athletic training education program or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and extenders in orthopedic practice locations.
• Perform wound care, dressings, EKGs, suture/staple removal, casts/splints, injections, vaccines, botox, phlebotomy, and ultrasound assistance after competency.
• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the provider.
• Prepare and room patients, interview, document health information, and order radiographs per physician protocols.
• Document details in the EHR and review allergy/medication/surgical history; may function as a scribe when needed.
