Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, FL, seeks an Orthopedic Assistant to deliver patient care under supervision of a physician, PA, or nurse. The role includes stocking orthopedic equipment, patient education, X-ray coordination, vital signs, and assisting with casts and wound care.

Candidates should graduate from an Accredited ROT/CMA/EMT program or have 6 months of related patient care experience, plus BLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of ROT or CMA or EMT program or have six months of patient care experience.
• BLS certifications required (AHA/RCI).
• Ability to perform routine orthopedic procedures and assist during surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain stock of orthopedic equipment and supplies.
• Educate patients and families on injuries, casts, splints, crutches, and devices.
• Order X-Rays per physician plan and document in EMR.
• Obtain vitals and assist with surgical/orthopedic procedures.
• Perform casting, splinting, bandaging, braces, walkers, and reductions as needed.
• Obtain and download outside images/reports into EMR and provide wound care.
