Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, FL seeks an Orthopedic Assistant to provide patient care under physician/nurse supervision. You will assist with casts, splints, braces, and other devices, and coordinate imaging and wound care.

Responsibilities include maintaining stock, educating patients/families, ordering X-rays, obtaining vitals, assisting with procedures, and documenting in the EMR. A ROT/CMA/EMT background or 6 months of patient care experience is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ROT program, CMA, or EMT, or 6 months of patient care experience.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take decisive action.
• Must have strong communication and effective patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain stock of orthopedic equipment and supplies.
• Educate patients and families on injuries and use of casts, splints, crutches and other devices.
• Order X-Rays based on physician treatment plans and document in EMR.
• Obtain patient vitals and assist with orthopedic procedures.
• Perform routine orthopedic procedures (casting, splinting, bracing, traction, etc.).
• Obtain external imaging results and upload to EMR; provide wound care.
