Job summary

Iowa Donor Network is seeking an Organ Recovery Coordinator to manage the surgical recovery and organ preservation process, maximizing organ viability for local and non-local transplants. You will work in the operating room, assist surgeons, monitor perfusion machines, document data, and coordinate research organ recovery with national partners.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in health sciences or equivalent; min 1 year clinical experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Aseptic/sterile technique and OR etiquette experience preferred.
• Certified Transplant Preservationist and/or donation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in an on-call schedule with ten 24-hour shifts per month.
• Operate within a sterile environment to assist surgical team in recovery and packaging of organs.
• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure.
• Document information in iTransplant and the OPTN organ tracking system throughout the process.
• Coordinate allocation of research organs and documentation of acceptance status.
• Assist local transplant teams and facilitate transportation to donor hospitals as needed.
