Qualifications

• Associates or higher preferred.
• Bachelor’s preferred for advancement.
• CMS/OPO systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assumes up to 24-hour on-call responsibility for organ donor referrals and import organ offers for local transplant centers.
• Provides family support and requests authorization for organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
• Ensures organs meet CMS, CDC, and OPTN safety standards, including infectious disease tests and accurate labeling/transcription of results.
• Directs hospital physicians and nurses in donor evaluation and management per policies, collaborating with the Medical Director as needed.
• Communicates with team leaders and medical directors to maximize transplantable organs and tissues.
• Allocates organs according to OPTN policy and addresses compliance barriers independently or with resources.
• Oversees organ donor surgical recovery, including recovery, labeling, packaging, and transport of viable organs.
• Maintains records of referrals, evaluation, allocation, recovery, and distribution processes.
