Job summary

UCHealth is seeking a registered nurse with critical care or organ transplant experience to manage donor organ allocation and provide post-transplant nursing care after hours. The role covers 24/7 coverage, including day and night rotation, with an emphasis on timely evaluation of organ offers and coordination with transplant teams.

The position requires RN licensure, BLS certification, and at least 2 years in critical care or transplant settings, with a preference for bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Minimum required education: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Required Licensure/Certification: State RN licensure and BLS healthcare provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides 24/7 program coverage to evaluate organ offers based on urgency and criteria.
• Assesses donor data and presents findings to transplant providers; triages patient issues and coordinates care.
• Serves as liaison between OPOs, organ care systems, transplant teams, and recipient care teams; coordinates organ transport and recipient scheduling.
• Provides program regulatory support for waitlist removals and acts as safety contact for potential disease transmission.
• Works in a fast-paced environment with critical thinking and independent action.
