Job summary

GW Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an OR Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, assist with procedures, and ensure instrument availability throughout the surgical process.

The role involves setting up instruments, passing supplies to surgeons, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting turnover of surgical suites while collaborating with nursing and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or degree from an accredited nursing program or equivalent.
• CST NBSTSA certification preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile fields prior to procedures.
• Assist surgeons and RNs during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique and monitor operating room conditions.
• Perform instrument counts and ensure accurate documentation.
• Assist in turnover and restocking of surgical suites.
• Collaborate with nursing and supply chain teams to ensure readiness.
• Support infection control practices and adherence to safety protocols.
