Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program required.
• One year experience may be substituted for training program.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and select surgical instruments in collaboration with the circulating nurse.
• Count needles, sponges, and instruments; ensure proper labeling of medications and safe fluid temperatures.
• Maintain instrumentation cleanliness; assist with gowning and gloving and preoperative patient preparation.
• Hand instruments to the surgeon and assist with specimen delivery, room turnover, patient transport, and emergency cart checks.
• Prepare supplies for sterilization; orient new staff on departmental policies; perform other duties as assigned.
