Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Georgia is seeking a Surgical Technologist Non-Certified to support the operating room team. The role assists in preparing the operative suite, gowns, drapes, and instruments, and serves as a surgical assistant as needed under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, counting instruments, coordinating with surgeons, and ensuring patient safety during moderate to high acuity cases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED or Accredited Surgical Technology program.
• All certifications required upon hire unless stated otherwise; BLS or equivalent certifications.
• At least 1 year scrub tech OR operating room experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of procedure being performed and anticipate needs of surgeon and team within moderate to high difficulty surgeries.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures; reviews preference cards.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications.
• Performs surgical counts with circulator.
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure.
• Maintains sterile technique and organized back table.
• Prepares sterile dressings and terminal sterilization readiness.
• Maintains stock/medical supplies and assists with room turnover.
