Job summary

Avera St Anthony's Hospital in the United States is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team in the operating room. You will assist the surgeon, maintain sterile technique, and support instrument processing throughout procedures.

This role requires completing a Technical Certificate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program, CST/NBSTSA or TS-C upon hire, and 1–3 years of surgical experience.

Qualifications

• Essential job functions include providing high-quality professional care under supervision within surgical suites and clinical areas.
• Required education includes a Surgical Technologist program certificate and appropriate certifications at hire.
• Preferred 1–3 years of surgical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Maintains infection control and universal precautions.
• Washes and sterilizes equipment; keeps operating room clean.
• Rotates in SPD area cleaning and sterilizing instruments for OR, ER, & clinics.
• Updates preference cards to ensure all team members can perform procedures as per surgeon requests.
• Verifies patient identity and operative details to ensure safety.
• Applies aseptic technique throughout the intraoperative period.
• Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts per policy.
• Participates in evaluating new supplies, equipment, and instruments.
• Places equipment and supplies in the OR and arranges instruments as instructed.

Technical Certificate Graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - NBSTSA Upon Hire

Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - NCCT Upon Hire
