Job summary

Avera is hiring a Surgical Technician at St Anthony's Hospital to support the operating room and SPD functions. You will sterilize equipment, prep rooms, and assist the surgeon under supervision. The role requires accurate verification of patient identity and procedure, and active participation in aseptic technique.

The position emphasizes teamwork, infection control, and adherence to regulatory standards. On-call duties include nights, weekends, and holidays as part of the team.

Qualifications

• Must have technical certificate in surgical technology and certification as CST or TS-C upon hire.
• Visual acuity and ability to communicate effectively; able to work with a team under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon within scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Wash and sterilize equipment; keep operating room clean.
• Rotates in SPD area cleaning and sterilizing instruments for OR, floors, ER, and clinics.
• Update preference cards for procedures per surgeon requests.
• Verify patient identity, procedure, site, and consent; apply aseptic technique.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments per policy; participate in equipment evaluations.

Technical Certificate Graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - NBSTSA Upon Hire

Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - NCCT Upon Hire
