Job summary

Avera is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the OR team at Avera St Mary's Hospital. The role supports surgeons, maintains sterile technique, and ensures a safe operating room environment in a day-shift schedule.

Qualifications include a Technical Certificate in Surgical Technology and CST/TS-C credentials upon hire. 1–3 years of experience preferred; a competitive pay range is offered with a sign-on possibility.

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate Graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - NBSTSA Upon Hire or
• Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - NCCT Upon Hire

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within the scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Washes and sterilizes equipment and keeps a clean operating room.
• Rotates in SPD area cleaning & sterilizing instruments for OR, floors, ER, & clinics.
• Updates preference cards to ensure all team members can perform procedures as per surgeon requests.
• Verifies patient identity and operative details.
• Applies aseptic technique throughout the intraoperative period.
• Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts.
• Participates in evaluation of new supplies and equipment.
• Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments.
