Job summary

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support a range of surgical procedures in a busy OR environment. You will prepare supplies, operate surgical equipment, and assist in the sterile field under surgeon direction.

We require a CST, BLS, and a Surgical Technology course completion. The role includes patient transfer, room turnover, and participation in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a course in Surgical Technology.
• CST certification is required.
• Knowledge of standard AORN OR protocols, procedures, and conduct.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Function as the Operating Room Technician on a variety of surgical procedures.
• Select and prepare the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases.
• Operate surgical equipment such as lights and suction.
• Scrub on surgical cases and assist in exposing the surgical field and handing instruments to the surgeon.
• Participate in surgical counts for instruments, sponges, sharps, and needles.
• Assist circulator in patient transfer, positioning, fluids management, and room turnover.
