Job summary

AdventHealth in Littleton, CO is hiring a Surgical Technician for full-time, day shift. The role includes setting up sterile tables, preparing solutions and medications, and assisting the surgeon and OR team during procedures.

Requires basic life support and high school diploma; completion of an approved Surgical Technician program is preferred. OR experience and cardiovascular skills are strongly valued. Sign-on bonus applies.

• Experience in Cardiovascular (CV) / Hearts (Strongly Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
• Prepares and labels solutions and medications used, reporting amounts for charting.
• Prepares back table and mayo stand, anticipating needs of the surgeon using the surgeon’s preference card.
• Provides supplies or equipment upon request for the surgeon, nurses, and/or anesthesiologist.
• Holds retractors or instruments, sponges or suctions operative site, applies electrocautery to clamps on bleeders, cuts suture material, connects drains to suction apparatus, and applies dressings to a wound.
• Assists with draping sterile field and covers operating and instrument tables.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed, and as needed.
• Delivers surgical specimens/cultures from operative field to circulating nurse.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures by checking package integrity, indicators, and opening procedures.
• Prepares and sterilizes supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures, reviews and replaces supplies in the surgical case following a procedure, and discards expired medications per protocol.
• Assists with terminal cleaning of the operating room, puts equipment, supplies, and instruments away as required, and assists in prepping the room for the next patient.
• Uses physician preference card to identify supplies and equipment needed for scheduled surgical or emergency procedures and updates preference cards with necessary changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
