Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System is seeking a Perioperative Aide to assist in all areas of the Surgical Services department, helping facilitate efficiency in the operating room. The role involves preparing carts, equipment, and supplies, transporting patients, and ensuring adherence to safety and cleaning protocols.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent; Basic computer skills. Preferred: Basic Life Support certification and knowledge of surgical instruments and perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Experience in perioperative and/or acute care environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute surgical case carts according to physician's preference lists and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Prepare and distribute equipment and positioning supplies according to the anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Maintain inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, and the anesthesia supply areas.
• Assist in transporting patients and equipment as needed.
• Follow established protocols for transporting equipment, supplies, and other items.
• Safely move, transfer, and transport patients onto transport vehicles (e.g.; wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, OR beds).
• Operate patient lifting equipment and mechanical assistance devices safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
• Prepare transport vehicles and equipment according to anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Follow protocols for cleaning of ORs and procedure rooms.
• Follow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
