Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston, OR is seeking a Per Diem Surgical Services assistant to support the operating room team. You will prepare case carts, equipment, and supplies, and assist with patient transport and environmental cleaning per established protocols.

Required basic computer skills and a high school diploma; Basic Life Support is preferred. The role involves working in a fast-paced hospital setting with adherence to safety protocols and patient privacy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Basic Life Support certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute surgical case carts according to physician's preference lists and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Prepare and distribute equipment and positioning supplies according to the anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Maintain inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, and the anesthesia supply areas.
• Assist in transporting patients and equipment as needed.
• Follow established protocols for transporting equipment, supplies, and other items.
• Safely move, transfer, and transport patients onto transport vehicles (e.g.; wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, OR beds).
• Operate patient lifting equipment and mechanical assistance devices safely and according to manufacturers' instructions.
• Prepare transport vehicles and equipment according to anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Follow protocols for routine, between-case, enhanced environmental cleaning, and terminal cleaning of ORs and procedure rooms.
• Follow safety procedures when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to standard precautions including PPE.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of health information.
• Support hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
