Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care in Hermiston, OR is seeking a Perioperative Aide to support the Surgery - Hospital team and help keep the operating rooms running smoothly. You will prepare carts, equipment, and supplies, and assist in transporting patients as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and preferred Basic Life Support certification. The role is a 40-hour, first-shift position with day hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Preferred: Basic Life Support Certification.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment and procedures is preferred.
• Environmental services experience in perioperative and/or acute care setting is preferred.
• Must be able to perform a variety of duties and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute surgical case carts according to physician's preference lists and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Prepare and distribute equipment and positioning supplies according to the anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Maintain inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, and the anesthesia supply areas.
• Assist in transporting patients and equipment as needed.
• Follow established protocols for transporting equipment, supplies, and other items.
• Safely move, transfer, and transport patients onto transport vehicles (e.g.; wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, OR beds).
• Operate patient lifting equipment and mechanical assistance devices safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
• Prepare transport vehicles and equipment according to the anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
• Follow protocols for routine, between-case, enhanced environmental cleaning, and terminal cleaning of ORs and procedure rooms.
• Follow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to standard precautions including PPE.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of health information.
• Support hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
