Job summary

Duke University Health System seeks an Administrative Nurse – OR Scheduler to coordinate daily operating room scheduling in partnership with the Perioperative team, surgeons and leadership. On-site first 6 months with potential for hybrid or remote work.

The role requires a BSN, NC/compact RN licensure, and 2+ years operating room experience. Strong communication, critical thinking and nursing judgment ensure efficient OR flow and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from an accredited BSN program.
• Current NC State Board of Nursing licensure or compact RN licensure.
• BLS (or higher) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily OR scheduling in collaboration with the Perioperative team, surgeons and leadership.
• Schedule OR events and analyze schedules to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Verify critical elements in case requests (provider, location, dates, CPT/ICD, privileges).
• Lead scheduling meetings with stakeholders and orient new hires in scheduling procedures.
• Run reports and analyze data to optimize schedule execution.
• Maintain patient safety using nursing judgment and perioperative knowledge.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and Joint Commission/regulatory requirements.
• Participate in professional development and quality improvement activities.
