OR RN: Perioperative Care (Day Shift)

Job summary

IHA is seeking a perioperative registered nurse to provide intraoperative care in scrub and circulating roles. The position includes call, weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled to support patient care across all ages.

The ideal candidate holds a current Iowa RN license, OR experience is preferred, and BLS must be completed within six weeks of hire. Mandatory reporter training is required within three months of starting. English proficiency is essential for patient communication.

Qualifications

• Current or compact state RN license (Iowa).
• Operating Room experience preferred.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire (American Heart Association).
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other OR team members.
• Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing aseptic technique and by controlling environmental factors.
• Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis.
• Communicates effectively with patient, staff, physicians, and families.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function.
• Initiates and directs room clean up and turnover.
