Job summary

IHA in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time perioperative nurse to provide intraoperative patient care in both scrub and circulating roles.

The role requires participating in call schedules with weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled, and a strong commitment to aseptic technique and patient safety.

You will support the OR team, prepare for cases, manage setup and turnover, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in perioperative nursing with intraoperative (scrub and circulating) roles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced OR environment with adherence to aseptic technique.
• Willingness to participate in call, weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Maintains a safe environment by following aseptic standards and safety protocols.
• Collects and analyzes data and assists in nursing diagnoses as appropriate.
• Communicates effectively with patients, staff, physicians and families.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and function.
• Initiates and directs room turnover and cleanup.
