Job summary

HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, FL, seeks an RN for the Operating Room to deliver safe, patient-centered perioperative care and lead on patient education. You will participate in preop assessment, IV therapy, meds administration, site verification, and time-out/debriefing procedures in a fast-paced surgical setting.

On-call during select non-business hours and a focus on evidence-based practice with a collaborative team are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN status as Registered Nurse and active licensure.
• Associate Degree in nursing or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – including providers, surgeons, surgical technologists and more.
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures.
