Job summary

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is seeking an RN in the Operating Room on a PRN/per diem basis. You’ll evaluate patients before surgery, educate families, and manage preoperative care including IV therapy and medications.

You will help verify surgical site, follow universal protocols, and respond to emergencies with a focus on patient safety and outcomes. You’ll work within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team and apply nursing processes with critical thinking and leadership to deliver

Qualifications

• Must hold RN licensure and be prepared to obtain ACLS within 6 months of start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN with an Associate Degree qualifies for this role.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assist with preoperative preparations, including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies and maintain patient safety.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers, surgeons, and staff.
• Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition throughout the shift and document changes accurately.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up.
