Job summary

Medical City North Hills Hospital in Texas is seeking a qualified Operating Room Registered Nurse for a full-time, dayshift role. The RN will influence patient care through collaboration with managers and hospital initiatives, participating in councils and nursing programs.

You will evaluate patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, prepare patients (IV therapy, meds, site verification), and participate in universal protocols. On-call is required during select non-business hours.

Qualifications

• RN license to be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• OR experience required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time out, debriefing, universal protocols).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists.
• Apply the nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
