Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the proper care, decontamination, assembly, packaging and distribution of surgical instruments in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will operate steam autoclaves, ETO and Gas Plasma sterilizers, track sterilization records, and support Operating Room priorities while maintaining safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and BLS certification.
• Current national certification as SPD Technician, Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Surgical Instrument Processor.
• Mechanical aptitude to breakdown, clean, lubricate and reassemble instruments; ability to solve problems with incomplete trays or missing instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, assembles and packages all instruments following established protocols; prepares replacement parts as needed.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment by following Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices; uses proper PPE.
• Identifies instruments for all specialties; follows protocol for repair or replacement; assembles and packages instrumentation per department protocol.
• Operates steam autoclaves, ETO and Gas Plasma sterilizers; maintains logs and records for sterilization processes.
• Responds to operating room priority calls and ensures timely completion of instrumentation requests.
