Job summary

UMC Health System in Texas seeks an Environmental Service Assistant for the Operating Room to perform patient transport and room cleaning, ensuring sterile supplies and equipment are ready for procedures. This role supports OR staff and helps maintain a clean, safe surgical environment.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma, at least 1 year in environmental services or related experience, and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• +1 year of experience in an environmental service capacity or related experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper cleaning, preparation and setup of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment to be used during surgery.
• Transport patients between care units when needed.
• Handle transporting and disposition of specimens and cultures.
• Obtain blood products from Transfusion Services and return unused products.
• Assist staff with room turnover and cleaning between cases.
• Operate assigned cleaning machines and equipment.
• Perform duties related to attending the operating room with efficiency and timeliness.
