Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking an entry‑level Environmental Services worker to perform janitorial duties in a hospital setting with emphasis on operating rooms, patient discharges and floor care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of full‑time paid experience in environmental services.
• Preferred: hospital or healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Vacuums carpeted surfaces, damp mops hard surface floors.
• Assists the supervisor in orientating new housekeeping assistants to the department.
• Performs general and heavy cleaning duties in offices, patient rooms, clean and soiled utility rooms, laboratories, public areas, and stairways using hospital approved chemicals.
• Cleans window sills, empties ash trays and waste baskets.
• Cleans blood and body fluids.
• Arranges furniture in patient rooms, baths, offices, waiting and other public areas.
• Cleans showers, sinks, mirrors, toilets and replaces supplies as required.
