U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Charleston VAMC, seeks a GS-7 Health Technician (Optometry) to provide independent optician services, perform optical measurements, fitting, verification, repairs, and patient education, supporting Interdisciplinary Optometry team.

You will document all activities in CPRS per VHA standards, verify prescriptions, ensure ANSI standards, assist in clinic workflow, triage issues, and help manage inventory.

Qualifikationen

• Education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for federal employment.

Aufgaben

• Perform complex optical measurements (PD, segment height, base curve, prism) using digital/manual instruments.
• Independently verify prescriptions and reconcile spectacle orders before fabrication.
• Dispense eyewear and ensure fit, comfort and safety for patients.
• Maintain inventory, display, pricing accuracy, and record keeping per policy.
• Triage walk-in optical issues and coordinate with Optometry for prescription issues.
• Protect PHI per HIPAA and ensure proper system use and documentation.
