The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is hiring a Health Technician (Optometry) at the Charleston VAMC.

The role delivers independent optical services, including measurements, fitting, verification, repairs, and patient education, supporting Optometry with clinical workflow. Responsibilities include verifying prescriptions, ensuring ANSI compliance, maintaining inventory, and coordinating with Interdisciplinary teams to enhance Veteran satisfaction and clinic efficiency.

Qualificações

• Education/degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for federal employment.
• If using foreign education, submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with transcript.

Responsabilidades

• Provide courteous, culturally competent assistance to Veterans/caregivers; explain frame options and lens choices.
• Perform complex optical measurements (PD, segment height, base curve, prism) using digital/manual instruments.
• Ensure proper fit and comfort with advanced frame adjustments and eye-wear safety checks.
• Document all measurements, fittings, verifications, repairs, and interactions in CPRS per standards.
• Independently verify prescriptions and reconcile spectacle orders before fabrication.
• Inspect eyewear for ANSI Z80.1/Z87.1 compliance; finalize power, axis, prism, PD, seg height, and fit.
• Maintain inventory, display, pricing accuracy; support merchandise control and record keeping.
