Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking an Optometric Physician in New Mexico to provide comprehensive eye care in Native communities. You will examine, diagnose, and treat ocular diseases, offering primary eye care and emergency ocular services in outpatient and inpatient settings. This federal role requires U.S.

citizenship, NBEO licensure, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE-accredited program. Recruitment incentives may apply; a 6-month service agreement is required.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Optometry from an ACOE-accredited program.
• Licensure: NBEO examinations passed; current, full, unrestricted optometry license.

Responsibilities

• Performs the full range of professional optometric physician duties, including examining, diagnosing, and treating diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases and provide comprehensive primary eye care, including ocular examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
