Job summary

The Indian Health Service seeks a qualified optometrist to join our team. You will provide full-scope eye care, including exams, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in Native communities.

This federal role requires Doctor of Optometry, NBEO licensure, and eligibility for U.S. practice. You will deliver emergency ocular care and manage a range of ocular diseases.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Optometry from an accredited program.
• Licensure: NBEO examinations passed and current unrestricted license to practice.
• GS-11/12: residency or 1 year experiential equivalence as an optometrist.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases and disorders of the visual system.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases.
• Provide comprehensive primary eye care and ocular treatment.
• Provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
