Job summary

Indian Health Service seeks an Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care, including examinations, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, and emergency ocular care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Requirements include Doctor of Optometry, NBEO licensure, U.S. citizenship, and a possible 6-month service agreement with background/E-Verify checks. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE-accredited program.
• Current, full, unrestricted optometry license in a U.S. state/DC/PR/territory.
• Passing NBEO examinations (national board).
• One year residency or one year professional experience for GS-12 level.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary eye care, including examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of ocular diseases.
• Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures.
• Provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases.
