Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and patient education. You’ll conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostics, and manage schedules to ensure a high‑quality patient experience from start to finish.

You may perform diagnostic testing (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera) and document findings in EHR. Prior HIPAA compliance and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topical meds, imaging, and acuity.
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Manage the doctor’s appointment schedule for efficiency and quality of care.
• Document medical findings and communications in EHR; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Handle pre-appointment confirmations and recall follow-ups to maximize schedule utilization.
• May act as a scribe or perform refractions.
• Other duties within the practice as requested.
