Job summary

AEG Vision in Washington, DC is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and deliver exceptional patient care. You will perform pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure efficient visits.

You’ll conduct preliminary evaluations, collect medical histories, record findings in EHR, and coordinate referrals. The role requires HIPAA compliance, attention to detail, and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms related to eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certifications such as CPO, CPOA, or CPOT.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-testing and assist with diagnostic testing (e.g., OCT, Visual Field).
• Schedule and manage the doctor’s appointment calendar and recall reminders.
• Record medical findings and communicate with patients in the EHR system.
• Respond to patient inquiries by phone or in person regarding medications, treatments, and follow‑ups.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal and inventory management.
