Job summary

Affinity Eye Care in Washington, DC is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and enhance patient care. The technician will perform pre-exam evaluations, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role requires experience in eye exams, familiarity with ophthalmic terms, and certification (CPO/CPOA/CPOT). On-site at the practice with a strong emphasis on HIPAA compliance and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient evaluations before exams, including dilation, topical meds, Optomap, and visual acuity testing.
• Schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists and other follow-ups.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Use diagnostic testing equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera) as needed.
• Document findings in EHR and assist with medical documentation.
• Manage appointment scheduling to maximize daily utilization.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal classes and inventory.
