Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support optometrists in delivering high-quality patient care. This role collaborates with clinicians to perform pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and ensure accurate documentation and scheduling for efficient visits.

You will help manage patient records in the EHR, coordinate referrals, and assist with minor clerical tasks while upholding HIPAA and privacy standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records/files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity.
• Records and maintain patient records/files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
• Records and maintain patient records in EHR and assist with clerical duties related to medical documentation.
