Job summary

AEG is hiring an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in patient care and education. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure a smooth, high-quality patient experience.

Responsibilities include preliminary patient evaluations, scheduling referrals, maintaining HIPAA-compliant records, and handling end-of-day tasks. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office and word processing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist.
• Schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists, Diagnostic follow-up visits, and other referrals.
• Maintain patient records/files in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings and communications in EHR; assist with clerical documentation.
• Manage appointment scheduling to maximize calendar utilization.
• Perform contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage inventory.
• End-of-day duties including schedule wrap-up and cleanliness of the workspace.
