Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in delivering high-quality patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic tests, and help manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure efficient, positive patient experiences from start to finish.

The role involves record-keeping, patient communication, and potential scribe duties, with opportunities for growth and certifications. This is a full-time, on-site position in Maryland with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds).
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Manage the doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure efficiency and high-quality patient experience.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and state policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• May perform diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Assist with billing and CPT codes related to post-op and office visits.
• Ensure schedule utilization via confirmations and recalls.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal and inventory management.
