Job summary

Affinity Eye Care seeks an Optometric Technician to assist Optometrists, conduct pre-testing, and manage patient flow for an efficient, high-quality experience from check-in to check-out.

Responsibilities include preliminary exams, patient interviews, scheduling referrals, maintaining EHR records, and assisting with diagnostic testing such as OCT and retinal imaging. Strong HIPAA knowledge required.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity).
• Schedule referral appointments and complete paperwork.
• Maintain and document patient records in EHR, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Perform diagnostic testing with specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Manage end-of-day tasks including schedule wrap-up and checklists.
• Assist with scribe/refractions as needed.
• Support the doctor’s appointment schedule to maximize efficiency.
