Job summary

AEG Vision in Humble, TX is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and ensure patient care excellence. You will assist with pre‑testing, testing, scheduling, and education to create an efficient patient experience from start to finish.

The role involves preliminary evaluations, documentation in EHR, and potential scribing or refractions. On‑site work with opportunities for growth and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity, etc.).
• Conduct verbal interview with patient to determine medical issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and complete paperwork for ophthalmologists and follow‑ups.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Perform diagnostic testing with specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with clerical medical documentation tasks.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization via confirmations and recall outreach.
• Instruct contact lens handling and manage trial inventory; order components as needed.
• Handle end‑of‑day wrap‑ups, keep the practice clean and organized.
• May act as scribe or perform refractions; other duties as requested.
