Job summary

VisionWorks in New York is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for on-site or remote examinations, perform pre-exam tests, and explain each step. You will be a liaison between patients and Optometrists and assist in early patient journey steps.

The role requires at least one year of related experience, an eye-health background preferred, and HS diploma or GED. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in optical or healthcare.
• HS diploma or GED required.
• Training provided.
• Medical office professionalism preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and document medical history in EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye exams and explain testing.
• Support remote patients with remote eye exams, testing, and video conferencing.
• Transition patients to retail associates and convey doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and manage appointment schedules.
• Maintain patient records and ensure clinic cleanliness.
• Handle contact lens orders and stock.
• Respond to clinical questions and triage emergencies.
