Job summary

VisionWorks in New York is hiring a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience by preparing the patient for on-site and remote examinations, conducting pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process.

You will liaison between patients and Optometrists, assist with insurance preauthorization, maintain accurate EMR records, and coordinate with retail staff to schedule exams while supporting flexible travel to other store locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of related experience.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for on-site or remote exams and explain steps.
• Complete pre-exam tests and document results in EMR.
• Assist onsite and remote staff with eye examinations and remote exams.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP and coordinate with insurance processes.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books across stores.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data integrity.
