Job summary

Talentify in Patchogue, NY is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for on-site and remote exams, perform pre-exam tests, and guide patients through the process. The role acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists and supports remote eye examinations.

You will assist with registrations, insurance preauthorization, scheduling, and EMR documentation while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining accurate patient records.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required or equivalent
• One year related experience preferred
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office professionalism required
• Training provided will be offered

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect medical history for EMR submission
• Assist onsite doctor with eye exams and explain preliminary testing to patients
• Support remote eye exams: pre-testing, remote video conferencing, and additional testing
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; contact no-shows
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness
• Answer clinical questions; triage emergencies; schedule annual exams
• Maintain complete patient records per standards
• Instruct on contact lens care and handling; place orders and stock
• Maintain clean environment and equipment; ensure nightly coverage
• Participate in training and obtain required certifications
• Work flexible schedules including travel to other locations
