Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Engineering (Opto-mechanical) to design and develop space-based optomechanical systems and related structures for spacecraft payloads. You will contribute to performance, manufacturing, and reliability assessments and drive design concepts through drawings and tolerances.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee supplier interactions, and support technical ICD/specifications while pursuing space-system

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; graduate degree with 2+ years.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• 1+ years experience with CAD design.
• 1+ years experience with finite element analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design concepts and develop space-based optomechanical systems and mechanical support equipment.
• Support drawing creation, assign and evaluate tolerances, and drive drawing releases.
• Participate in cross-functional teams of engineers and designers to accomplish assignments.
• Investigate solutions to product or process problems.
• Oversee suppliers, including technical oversight and mechanical ICD/specification development.
