Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY seeks a Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineering to design, develop and evaluate high-performance mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for EO/IR applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and program management from concept through fabrication.

The role emphasizes CAD design, structural/thermal analysis, and EOS/BOM lifecycle support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems.
• Prepare design specifications, analyses and recommendations through formal review.
• Analyze, develop, and recommend design approaches to production requirements.
• Interface with optical, electrical, software and system engineers for CAD design from inception to fabrication drawings.
• Provide support for product development and proposals for conceptual CAD layouts and cost estimation.
• Complete documentation and BOMs to support life cycle of new or improved designs.
• Incorporate ECOs to support existing designs during production.
