Job summary

L3Harris Imaging Division in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the assembly and integration of opto-electro-mechanical systems for space-based telescopes. The role scales production processes to support rapid growth across commercial and military customers, NASA, and other programs.

You will drive manufacturing leadership, implement efficient workflows, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines with the highest quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline with 5+ years related experience; Master’s with 3+ years; or 10+ years in lieu of degree.
• Electrical or electro-mechanical engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute manufacturing engineering activities for assembly and integration of opto-electromechanical assemblies.
• Develop scalable processes from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers.
• Lead process improvement and cost reduction projects; apply lean principles to production cell.
• Lead elements of manufacturing process optimization of processes, procedures and layouts.
• Coordinate with design engineering to address technical, operational, and obsolescence issues.
• Interface with technicians and operations personnel; back up the operations manager when on vacation.
• Support capacity planning and lab space layout for program changes.
• Support production schedule development and execution from new product introduction to low-rate repeat build manufacturing.
